TORONTO, Ontario – The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they have signed former Dayton goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin. The Pensacola Ice Pilots are the ECHL affiliate of the Maple Leafs and the Marlies of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the third round (76th overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, the 28-year-old Aubin played for Dayton in 1997-98 posting a 15-2-2 record with a 3.01 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 21 appearances with the Bombers.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, the 5-11 and 190 -pound Aubin has played in 168 career games with the Penguins posting a record of 63-72-11 with a 2.92 goals-against average. In 99-2000 he appeared in 51 games and posted a 23-21-3 record, including two shutouts. He was first among all rookies in wins, games played and minutes (2789), while ranking second in save percentage (.914) and third in goals-against average (2.58).
Aubin spent the 2004-05 season with St. John’s of the AHL, going 12-9-0 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .921 save percentage, including three shutouts. He has also played with Syracuse in1997-98 and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from 1998-2004.
