Martin, Beukeboom join Walleye

Toledo, Ohio – Forward Colin Martin and defenseman Brock Beukeboom have agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2017-18 season.

 

The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and the Grands Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

 

The rights to Martin were picked up by the Walleye as the future considerations in a trade with the Utah Grizzlies. In 47 games this past season, the London, Ontario native scored 33 points (22g-11a) with 43 penalty minutes. He also posted one assist and six penalty minutes over four playoff contests.

 

Prior to turning professional, he spent four years at St. Thomas University in Canada, appearing in 99 games with 57 points (23g-34a) and 246 penalty minutes. From 2008-12, the 26-year-old was a member of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League with 84 points (36g-48a) and 193 penalty minutes. As an alternate aaptain for London in 2011-12, he helped guide the Knights to the OHL championship with nine points (3g-6a) and a +17 rating.

 

Beukeboom, son of former NHL defenseman Jeff Beukeboom, was drafted in the third round (63rd overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2010 NHL Entry Dtaft while he was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He has spent the last four years playing at the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada appearing in 96 games with 24 points (7g-17a) and 123 penalty minutes.
