ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and AHL’s Rochester Americans, announced that forward Paul McIlveen has signed a Standard Player Contract for the 2014-15 season.
McIlveen, 28, returns to Elmira for his second stint with the Jackals. The veteran forward posted 51 points (21g-30a) in 56 games for the Jackals during the 2008-09 season. McIlveen also added 12 points (2g-10a) in 11 playoff games, helping the Jackals reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals. McIlveen’s 51 points ranked third on the team and his 12 playoff points led the Jackals.
Last season McIlveen skated for the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League. The 5-foot-11 185-pound forward recorded 44 points (16g-28a) in 45 regular-season games and added eight points in 11 playoff games, helping Arizona reach the league semifinals. McIlveen played five of the previous six seasons in the ECHL split between the South Carolina Stingrays, Greenville Road Warriors, Cincinnati Cyclones, Utah Grizzlies and Elmira. In 248 career ECHL games, McIlveen has recorded 193 points (79g-114a) and added 235 penalty minutes. He also earned brief AHL call-ups during the 2008-09 season with the Binghamton Senators and the Norfolk Admirals.
Prior to turning pro, McIlveen notched 128 points (52g-76a) and 116 penalty minutes in 116 games with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
