Minnesota Signs Ferguson

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Wild announced the signing of former Wheeling defenseman Scott Ferguson.

In his first professional season in 1994-95, the 6-1 and 195-pound Ferguson had six points (1g-5a) and 16 penalty minutes in five games with Wheeling and 10 points (4g-6a) and 103 penalty minutes in 58 games with Cape Breton in the American Hockey League.

The 32-year-old Ferguson had six points (1g-5a) and 80 penalty minutes in 52 games with the Edmonton Oilers, who originally signed him as a free agent in June, 1994, in 2003-04. He tied his career high for assists in a season and ranked fifth on the team in penalty minutes.

Ferguson, who played his 200th career NHL game at Detroit on February 16, 2004, has 21 points (7g-14a) and 288 penalty minutes in 203 career NHL games in six seasons with Edmonton and Anaheim.
