Morrison named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week


Adam Morrison of the South Carolina Stingrays is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 9-15.

 

Morrison went 3-0-0 with two shutouts, a 0.33 goals-against average and a .985 save percentage in three appearances last week as the Stingrays extended their winning streak to six games.

 

The 24-year-old made 30 saves in a 5-1 win at Greenville on Tuesday, stopped all 19 shots he faced in a 3-0 win against Gwinnett on Friday and recorded his second straight shutout with 17 saves in a 5-0 victory at Gwinnett on Saturday. He enters the week with a shutout streak of 122:51.

 

Under an NHL contract with the Boston Bruins, Morrison has appeared in 21 games for the Stingrays this season with a record of 13-5-2. He leads the league with a 1.88 goals-against average, is tied for the league lead with four shutouts and is tied for second with a .927 save percentage.

 

A native of White Rock, British Columbia Morrison has appeared in 47 career ECHL games with South Carolina and Utah posting an overall record of 22-17-6 with four shutouts, a 2.87 goals-against average and a save percentage of .905.

 

Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Saskatoon and Vancouver. During the 2011-12 season, he went 35-16-3 in 55 games with Vancouver with a 2.75 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901.
