AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Lynx announced that Rob Mueller (pictured left) has been named general manager, replacing Paul Gamsby (pictured right), who has announced his retirement to pursue business opportunities.
Mueller, who will begin his new position immediately, has spent two seasons as assistant general manager. He has spent the last year working more closely with the league office handling team correspondence and attending league meetings.
Before joining the Lynx, Mueller was a reporter for the Augusta Chronicle and covered the team for seven years beginning with the relocation of the membership from Raleigh, N.C. He served as the ECHL correspondent for The Hockey News establishing strong contacts within the hockey community.
“I am looking forward to a new chapter in my career,” said Mueller. “Paul has prepared me for this very well and I feel confident that the Lynx will be successful both on and off the ice.”
Gamsby returned as general manager of Augusta in 2003-04 after serving two years as president and general manager of Richmond in the ECHL. Gamsby was general manager for the first three seasons that the Lynx played in the ECHL and Augusta finished at or near the top in attendance and sponsorship sales in its first three seasons.
