Nailers Acquire Defenseman Blanshan From Idaho

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Nailers announced that they have acquired defenseman Cody Blanshan from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for future considerations.

The Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the eighth round (238th overall) by the New York Islanders in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-1 and 220-pound Blanshan has three points (1g-2a) and 52 penalty minutes in 14 games with Idaho.

In his first professional season in 2005-06, the 22-year-old had 27 points (12g-15a) and 109 penalty minutes in 59 regular season games and one goal and 27 penalty minutes in four Kelly Cup Playoff games with Greenville while also playing in the AHL where he had 17 penalty minutes in seven games with Norfolk.
