WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Nailers announced that goaltender Andy Chiodo has been reassigned by the Pittsburgh Penguins to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League and that left wing Arpad Mihaly has been recalled to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League.
Selected in the seventh round (199th overall) by the Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 22-year-old Chiodo is 5-1-0 with a goals-against average of 3.45 and a save percentage of .868 in six games with Wheeling. He dressed as a backup for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on October 9 and 14.
The 25-year-old Mihaly leads the Nailers in plus-minus rating with +7 and is tied for third in scoring with 10 points (2g-8a). Before joining the Nailers, he played one game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and had four penalty minutes.
