Nailers Host “Pink in the Rink” Friday, Saturday

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Nailers in association with the Cancer Center at Ohio Valley Medical Center will host “Pink in the Rink” at WesBanco Arena this weekend in an effort to raise $10,000 and educate fans about the fight against breast cancer.

The team will donate $1 from every ticket sold to its games on Friday and Saturday towards the fight against breast cancer in the Ohio Valley, and the first 2,500 fans each night will receive pink thunder sticks courtesy of the Cancer Center at Ohio Valley Medical Center, the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley and WTOV 9.

Wheeling players will wear special “Pink in the Rink” jerseys for the games which will be auctioned and all proceeds will be donated to the fight against breast cancer.

The Alaska Aces had over 12,000 fans and raised more than $103,000 with their “Pink in the Rink” promotion on Oct. 10-11 while “Pink in the Rink” promotions in Charlotte, Columbia, Florida, Fresno, Idaho, South Carolina, Stockton and Utah last season helped raise nearly $200,000 for breast cancer organizations. The Third Annual Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon in Bakersfield raised $61,238 and Phoenix garnered almost $20,000 with Face-Off Against Kids Cancer.
