Nailers’ Lazarev Loaned To Hershey

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Nailers announced that right wing Evgeny Lazarev has been loaned to Hershey of the American Hockey League, and that he is expected to be available when the Bears play at Syracuse on Friday.

Selected in the third round (79th overall) by Colorado in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Lazarev played four seasons in Hershey from 1998-2002, scoring 94 points (36g-58a) in 229 regular season games and 16 points (5g-11a) in 27 playoff games. He returned to Russia in 2002-03 and suffered a season-ending injury after four games.

The 6-1- and 200-pound Lazarev, who was the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for January 31-February 6, has 37 points (19g-18a) in 43 games with Wheeling and he is tied for the team lead with five game-winning goals. He began the season in Johnstown and scored three points (1g-2a) in five games.
