ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears
, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, have announced that the club has agreed to terms with rookie forward Coltyn Sanderson for the 2016-17 season.
Sanderson is set to begin his professional career after enjoying a breakout year in his final season with the University of North Dakota in 2015-16, recording 12 points (7g-5a) and eight penalty minutes in 35 games, while helping the Fighting Hawks program capture the 2016 NCAA championship in Tampa.
In 44 career collegiate games, the 25-year-old logged 14 points (7g-7a) and 10 penalty minutes.
Sanderson’s father, Mike, concluded a 13-year pro hockey career with the Orlando Seals of the ACHL and WHA2 in the early 2000s.
