Nearly a dozen banners representing championship seasons will be raised to the rafters of Lucas County Arena this weekend.
The Walleye franchise will be paying tribute to the rich tradition of pro hockey in Toledo with a “Hockey History Weekend” tomorrow and Sunday. Eleven championship banners that hung from the roof of the former Sports Arena will regain their glory.
“It will be fantastic. Toledo is one of the great hockey towns,” said Mike Miller, former announcer for the Goaldiggers and Storm general manager. “It’s been a lot of years and a lot of great players. Now we have a great new building and great organization. That’s where those banners should be hanging.”
