The 21-year-old scored nine goals and assisted on three others for 12 points in 12 games during the month.
A native of Tsawwassen, British Columbia, Nicholls scored at least one point in 10 of 12 games during the month, and had a 13-game point streak end on March 28. He had three two-point games during the month, notching a goal and an assist on March 2 at Toledo while scoring two goals on March 7 against Orlando and on March 23 at South Carolina.
Under an NHL contract with the New York Rangers, Nicholls has 37 points (18g-19a) in 57 games with the Road Warriors this season. He has also seen action in six games with Hartford of the American Hockey League.
Selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the seventh round (182nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Nicholls spent the previous five seasons with Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League where he recorded 313 points (138g-175a) in 332 career games. Last season, he finished third in the league with 47 goals.
