Nielson Re-Signs With Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Brabham Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Pilots Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that they have re-signed defenseman Corey Neilson, who was voted as a starter for both the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game and the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game.

Selected in the third round (53rd overall) by Edmonton in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-5 and 23-pound Neilson led league defensemen in scoring for the second straight season with 62 points (18g-44a) in 71 games and also was the leader among defensemen in goals, assists, power-play goals (10) and game-winning goals (5).

Neilson was named ECHL Defenseman of the Year and First Team All-ECHL in 2003-04 after leading league defenseman and tying for eighth overall with 78 points (19g-59a) while leading the ECHL with 35 power-play assists and 44 power-play points in 72 games.
