Norfolk Signs Inferno Defenseman Eastman

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed Columbia Inferno defenseman Derek Eastman to a professional tryout contract.

In his third professional season, the 5-foot-10 and 175-pound Eastman has eight points (1g-7a) and 18 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Inferno.

In three seasons with Columbia, the 25-year-old Eastman has 79 points (18g-61a) and 184 penalty minutes in 148 regular season ECHL games and six penalty minutes in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games. He was named to the ECHL All-Rookie team in 2003-04 after scoring 48 points (13g-35a) while playing all 72 regular season games for the Inferno.
