Norfolk Signs Kearns

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed forward Bracken Kearns.

The Augusta Lynx are the ECHL affiliate of the Admirals of the AHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League.

Kearns was team captain for Reading in 2007-08 and had 18 points (5g-13a) and 17 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Royals before being called up to Norfolk on Dec. 14. He had 25 points (9g-16a) and 40 penalty minutes in 53 games with the Admirals and by the end of the season had been named as alternate captain.

The 27 year old had 69 points (33g-36a) and 66 penalty minutes in 71 regular season games and 13 points (7g-6a) and six penalty minutes in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games for Toledo as a rookie in 2005-06.

He led Toledo and tied for the ECHL rookie lead with 33 goals while his team high 69 points tied him for third among first-year players. He tied for the Kelly Cup Playoffs lead with three game-winning goals while tying for fourth among rookies in the postseason with seven goals and 13 points.

He also played in the AHL where he had one assist in one game with Cleveland.
