GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl announced that right wing Simon Ferguson has been assigned to the team by the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and is expected to be in the lineup at Long Beach on Friday. Greenville is the ECHL affiliate of Edmonton of the NHL and Edmonton of the American Hockey League.
In his first professional season, the 21-year-old Ferguson has one assist and 12 penalty minutes in 12 games with Edmonton of the AHL.
The 6-0 and 200-pound Ferguson played five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Lethbridge and Kelowna from 1999-2004. He scored 161 points (61g-100a) and had 915 penalty minutes in 319 career regular season WHL games and 23 points (10g-13a) and 131 penalty minutes in 45 playoff games.
