Ottawa Signs Former Charlotte Defenseman Kinch

OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed former Charlotte Checkers defenseman Matt Kinch.

The 27 year old had 15 points (3g-12a) in 26 regular season games and five points (3g-2a) in five Kelly Cup Playoff games for Charlotte as a rookie in 2001-02 while also playing in the American Hockey League where he had eight points (1g-7a) in 40 games with Hartford.

Selected in the fifth round (146th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-foot-11 and 185-pound defenseman has played in Europe the last three years, including 2006-07 when he had 24 points (4g-20a) in 51 games for Straubing in the German Hockey League.
