Ottawa Signs Former Chief Waugh

OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed former Johnstown Chiefs defenseman Geoff Waugh.

The Elmira Jackals are the ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa of the NHL and the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

The 25 year old had 13 points (1g-12a) and 91 penalty minutes in 56 regular season games and one goal and four penalty minutes in two Kelly Cup Playoff games for Johnstown as a rookie in 2006-07. He also played in the AHL in 2006-07 and had 25 penalty minutes in 10 games for Springfield.

Selected in the third round (78th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Waugh had six points (3g-3a) and 139 penalty minutes in 71 games for Binghamton in 2007-08.
