Penguins Sign Former Stingray Ardelan

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed former South Carolina Stingrays defensemen Mark Ardelan.

The Wheeling Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of the Penguins of the NHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Ardelan played in all 72 regular season games for South Carolina as a rookie in 2004-05 and had 47 points (15g-32a) while also playing in four games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the Stingrays as well as one game in the AHL with Portland where he had an assist.

The 24 year old finished 14th among AHL defensemen in 2006-07 with 38 points (8g-30a) in 79 games for Iowa.
