Peoria Hires ECHL All-Star Trainer Eberle

PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League announced that they have hired Greg Eberle as strength and conditioning coach. Eberle was selected to work the ECHL All-Star Game in 2003 in Florida and again in 2005 when Peoria was the host.

The Alaska Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the Rivermen and the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League.

The 36-year-old Peoria native began his career with the Rivermen prior to the team’s inaugural season in 1984 when he was hired as a locker room assistant. He worked in the locker room until 1987 when he graduated from Richwoods High School and left to attend Illinois State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in physical education with a specialization in athletic training.

Eberle returned to the team in 1992-93 as head athletic trainer and remained in the position through 2004-05, transitioning with the team from the International Hockey League to the ECHL in 1996.
