Pittsburgh Signs Former ECHL All-Star Minard

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed former ECHL forward Chris Minard.

The Wheeling Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of the Penguins of the NHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

He led the Kelly Cup Playoffs in 2006 with 14 goals and nine power-play goals and tying for the lead with three game-winning goals in 22 games to help Alaska capture the ECHL championship.

The 25 year old led the ECHL with 49 goals and 15 power-play goals and was fourth with 78 points in 69 regular games in 2004-05, being named as a starter for the ECHL All-Star Game and being chosen First Team All-ECHL . He helped Alaska advance to Game 7 of the conference finals with eight points (4g-4a) in 15 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

He played in the AHL in 2006-07 and had 49 points (32g-17a) in 65 games for Lowell.
