BRIGHTON, N.Y. – One goalie position for the Rochester Americans is already locked up.

The other will be determined in the next three days.

While the organization expects veteran Chris Beckford-Tseu, who played in the ECHL each of his first four professional seasons, to provide stability as the No. 1 goaltender, youngsters Tyler Plante and David Shantz (pictured), who both played for the Florida Everblades in 2007-08, are competing for the second spot.

“The bottom line is, it’s up to them to prove they deserve to be here,” coach Benoit Groulx said.

The competition began in the Florida Panthers rookie camp Sept. 13-15, continued in the NHL camp the previous 10 days, and hits the home stretch this week.
