Playoff race goes down to the wire
The playoff race in the Eastern Conference comes down to the final two days of the regular season as five teams are battling for the final three berths in the conference.
Wheeling, which enters tonight’s action in sixth place with 79 points, visits Trenton tonight needing to win to clinch a postseason berth. The Nailers can also earn a spot in the playoffs with a regulation loss by Chicago. Wheeling has enjoyed success against the Titans this season, posting an 8-3-0 record in the head-to-head meetings.
South Carolina owns the seventh spot, and can clinch a postseason berth with a win, plus a regulation loss by Chicago and a Cincinnati loss. The Stingrays travel to Greenville tonight to take on the Road Warriors.
Reading has won four straight games, and has gone 8-2-0 in its last 10 games, and currently owns the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference. The Royals visit Elmira tonight, and can clinch a playoff spot with a regulation or overtime win coupled with a Chicago loss, or a shootout win along with a regulation loss by Chicago and a Cincinnati loss.
Chicago is in ninth place, and has 77 points which is tied with South Carolina and Reading. The Express play their final home game of the season tonight against Kalamazoo. Cincinnati is two points off the pace with 75, and hosts Toledo tonight. The Cyclones host the Express tomorrow in the season finale.
