PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League have announced that they signed goaltender Kirk Daubenspeck. The Pirates also announced that they have assigned rookie goaltender Justin Eddy and forward Cam McCaffrey to South Carolina. South Carolina is the ECHL affiliate of Portland of the AHL and Washington of the National Hockey League.
Daubenspeck played the third period of Portland’s game at Manchester, stopping all nine shots he faced. He started at Worcester on Sunday and made 27 saves in a 4-0 win, the first shutout of the season for Portland. Daubenspeck opened the season with South Carolina of the ECHL, posting a 12-9-3 record with a goals-against average of 2.26 and a save percentage of .936 in 24 games before being called up to Portland.
In 11 starts with Portland, Eddy is 2-5-1 with a goals-against average of 3.65 and a save percentage of .863.
