CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League have reassigned rookie forwards Ryan Hillier and Tomas Zaborsky and defenseman Michael Busto to Charlotte.
The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the Rangers of the NHL and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the fifth round (137th overall) by the Rangers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old Zaborsky played the last two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League where he had 113 points (50g-63a) in 127 regular season games and six points (3g-3a) in 10 playoff games for Saginaw.
Selected in the third round (84th overall) by the Rangers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old Hillier has played the last four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he had 190 points (86g-104a) and 223 penalty minutes in 229 regular season games and 30 points (13g-17a) and 56 penalty minutes in 44 playoff games for Halifax.
The 22-year-old Busto played for Charlotte as a rookie in 2007-08 and had 16 points (4g-12a) and 10 penalty minutes in 48 games.
