Rangers Reassign Checkers’ Zaba To Hartford

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League have reassigned rookie goaltender Matt Zaba to Hartford of the American Hockey League, and that rookie defenseman Matt Waddell has been loaned to the Wolf Pack.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the Rangers of the NHL and Hartford of the AHL.

Signed by the Rangers as a free agent during the offseason, the 6-foot-1 and 185-pound Zaba is 3-1-0 with a goals-against average of 3.52 and a save percentage of .891 in four games for Charlotte.

The 23-year-old Waddell has one assist and 15 penalty minutes in 11 games for the Checkers.
