Rawlyk Assigned To
RoadRunners From Worcester

PHOENIX – The Phoenix RoadRunners announced that veteran defenseman Rory Rawlyk has been assigned to the club from the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.

The RoadRunners are the ECHL affiliate of Worcester of the AHL and the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. The head coach of Worcester is Roy Sommer, who led Richmond to the Riley Cup championship in 1995 and was named ECHL Coach of the Year in 1995-96 after leading Richmond to the Brabham Cup title with a league-record 105 points. The assistant coach for Worcester is former ECHL player David Cuniff and the equipment manager is Vinny Ferraiuolo, who worked in the ECHL.

The 25 year old signed with South Carolina on Feb. 5 and had 12 points (2g-10a) and 22 penalty minutes in 26 regular season games and two assists and 23 penalty minutes in 16 Kelly Cup Playoffs. He began the season in Germany where he had 24 points (7g-17a) and five penalty minutes in 35 games with Regensburg.
