Reading's Labelle named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Olivier Labelle of the Reading Royals is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 7-13.

 

The 26-year-old scored six goals, including four power-play tallies, and added an assist as Reading went 2-2-0 last week to move into first place of the Atlantic Division with an overall record of 7-6-1 for 15 points.

 

Labelle scored two goals in a 5-2 loss at Trenton on Wednesday and followed that up with a second straight two-goal performance in a 5-4 win at Elmira on Friday. Labelle added a goal in a 4-2 loss to the Jackals on Saturday and ended the week with a goal and an assist in a 6-2 victory over Elmira on Sunday. His goal on Sunday gives him 54 as a member of the Royals, setting a new team record.

 

A native of St. Eustache, Quebec, Labelle leads the Royals with 10 goals and 14 points. His 10 goals are second in the league, while his five power-play goals and three game-winning goals are tied for the league lead.

 

Labelle has 170 points (96g-74a) in 215 career ECHL games with Utah, Victoria and Reading and has added 40 points (21g-19a) in 47 career Kelly Cup Playoffs games. He also has scored 39 points (15g-24a) in 124 American Hockey League games with Syracuse, Bridgeport, Manitoba and Providence.

 

On behalf of Olivier Labelle, a case of pucks will be donated to a Reading youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
