Rivermen Acquire Defenseman
Forbes from San Diego

PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Rivermen announced that the team has acquired defenseman Ian Forbes from the San Diego Gulls in exchange for rookie defenseman Aaron Forsythe and future considerations.

 Selected in the second round (51st overall) by Philadelphia in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Forbes has nine points (2g-7a) and 189 penalty minutes in 62 games with San Diego.

 In his fifth professional season, Forbes has also played in the ECHL with Trenton and Florida. He has 26 points (3g-23a) and 834 penalty minutes in 245 regular season ECHL games and 25 penalty minutes in 14 Kelly Cup Playoff games. He has also played with Philadelphia in the American Hockey League scoring three points (2g-1a) with 88 penalty minutes in 38 games.
