Road Warriors add trio of rookies
Greenville, S.C. - The Greenville Road Warriors announced they have signed forwards Guillaume Asselin, Matthew Kirzinger and Brandon Hynes for the 2013-14 season.
The Road Warriors are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers and American Hockey League's Hartford Wolk Pack and Adirondack Phantoms.
Asselin, 21, was a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League standout the past three seasons averaging over a point-per-game each year with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, scoring 227 points (95g-132a) in 202 games played during his three-year tenure. Asselin led the team in points during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons and was the alternate captain last season.
Kirzinger, 25, spent the past four seasons at Ferris State University. He was sidelined last season which limited him to only 11 games played. The year prior, Kirzinger and current Road Warrior Jordie Johnston, spearheaded the team to its best record in school history. Kirzinger scored 34 points (10g-24a) during his 42 games played in 2011-12.
Hynes, 21, is another player who averaged over a point-per-game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season, he tallied 76 points (36g-40a) in 63 games with Acadie-Bathurst andVal d’Or. Over a six-year span, the Norris Point, Newfoundland native scored 333 points (170g-163a) in 318 games in the QMJHL.
