RoadRunners, Peat Agree To Terms

PHOENIX – The Phoenix RoadRunners announced that they have agreed to terms with forward Stephen Peat.

The RoadRunners are the ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League and the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League. The head coach of Worcester is Roy Sommer, who led Richmond to the Riley Cup championship in 1995 and was named ECHL Coach of the Year in 1995-96 after leading Richmond to the Brabham Cup title with a league-record 105 points. The assistant coach for Worcester is former ECHL player David Cuniff and the equipment manager is Vinny Ferraiuolo, who worked in the ECHL.

Selected in the second round (32nd overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, the 28 year old played three seasons in the NHL from 2001-04 and had 10 points (8g-2a) and 232 penalty minutes in 129 games with the Washington Capitals.

He has not played since January 2007 when he suffered a season-ending leg injury while playing in the AHL for Albany.
