RoadRunners Receive Rookie Wilson From Worcester

PHOENIX – The Phoenix RoadRunners announced that rookie defenseman Michael Wilson has been assigned to the club from Worcester of the American Hockey League.

Phoenix is the ECHL affiliate of Worcester of the AHL and the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. The head coach of Worcester is Roy Sommer, who led Richmond to the Riley Cup championship in 1995 and was named ECHL Coach of the Year in 1995-96 after leading Richmond to the Brabham Cup title with a league-record 105 points. The assistant coach for Worcester is former ECHL player David Cuniff and the equipment manager is Vinny Ferraiuolo, who worked in the ECHL.

The 21 year old, who attended training camp with San Jose and played in the Sharks Prospect Tournament, has one goal and one assist in five games with Worcester.
