ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears announced that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Jake Parenteau for the 2014-15 season.
The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
Parenteau is set to start his rookie campaign after completing a four-year career (2010-14) at the University of Minnesota where he posted 22 points (4g-18a) in 113 games. A native of Shafer, Minn., Parenteau was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2012-13.
Before joining Minnesota, Parenteau played two seasons (2008-10) for the Alaska Avalanche (NAHL), netting 68 points (26g-42a) to go along with 143 penalty minutes in 102 games. He led all NAHL defensemen in goals during both of his seasons with Alaska, and in 2009-10 he led all defensemen with 47 points and was named to the NAHL First All-Star Team.
