Royals Beat Titans 5-2

MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J. – The Reading Royals overcame a 2-1 deficit to post a 5-2 win against the Trenton Titans in a preseason game on Saturday at the Princeton Sports Complex.

The two teams meet again on Monday at 7:05 p.m. at the BodyZone in Wyomissing, Pa.

Greg Hogeboom gave Reading a 1-0 lead on the Royals scoring a goal, assisted by Tyler Hanchuk, on the Royals first shot of the game. Brian McConnell tied the game with a goal at 10:48 of the first putting back the rebound on a shot by Aaron Gill and Rosario Ruggeri scored a power-play to make it 2-1 at the end of the first period.

Grant Jackson scored a goal, assisted by Malcolm MacMillan, at 4:46 to tie the game 2-2. Less than two minutes later Larry Courville gave the Royals a 3-2 lead and Mike Kompon scored a shorthand goal at 8:04 giving Reading a 4-2 lead at the end of the second.

Yutaka Fukufuji made 34 saves to pick up the victory, including all nine shots he faced in the third period.
