PRINCETON, N.J. – Reading rookie goaltender Barry Brust is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for March 14-20.
Finishing with wins over North Division rivals Peoria and Dayton and a shootout loss to Atlantic City, Brust was 2-0-1 with a 0.95 goals-against average and a .973 save percentage while helping the Royals go 2-0-2 to move into second place in the North Division.
Under contract to Manchester of the American Hockey League, the 6-2 and 210-pound Brust stopped 27 shots in a 3-1 win over Peoria on Tuesday and followed with 31 saves in a 2-0 shutout at Dayton on Thursday. The rookie ended his week with a 25-save effort in a 3-2 shootout loss at Atlantic City on Saturday.
Selected in the third round (73rd overall) by Minnesota in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Brust is 6-0-1 with three shutouts, a goals against of 0.71 and a save percentage of .972 in his last seven starts. In his last 12 games, Brust is 9-0-2 with three shutouts, a goals against of 1.22 and a save percentage of .953.
