READING, Pa. – It’s that moment at the birth of a season when every team is 0-0 and giddy with optimism.
Like their 22 ECHL counterparts, the Reading Royals enter Friday’s season opener at Elmira (7:35 p.m., WRAW/1340) with visions of hoisting the Kelly Cup dancing through their heads.
“I think we can have a good team here and be a first-place team,” winger Matt Herneisen said. “I don’t think that’s out of the question for us. If we put our minds to it here, we can really accomplish anything with this squad.”
The squad put together by first-year head coach Jason Nobili is a cocktail of youth and experience.
