Royals Sign Defenseman Dave Cowan

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Dave Cowan.

In his senior season at Robert Morris University last year, Cowan, who hails from Calgary, Alberta, registered six points (1g-5a) and twenty-four penalty minutes in thirty games with the Colonials. A two-time captain at RMU, Cowan became the first graduate of the program to jump directly to the AHL when he played one game for the Norfolk Admirals after the conclusion of his college season last year. Cowan, who racked up twenty-four points (3g-21a) and 142 penalty minutes in 111 total college games, was selected as RMU’s Most Valuable Player, Most Inspirational Player and Defensive Player of the Year at the conclusion of last season.
