Sarauer named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week
PRINCETON, N.J. – Andrew Sarauer of the Las Vegas Wranglers is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 4-10. He also won the award for the week ending March 20, 2011 while with Reading.
Sarauer scored five goals, added five assists and was a +9 last week, as the Wranglers went 4-0-0 to stretch their winning streak to seven games.
The 28-year-old tallied three points (2g-1a), including a power-play goal and the game-winning goal, in a 4-2 win against Colorado on Monday. He recorded a hat trick, and was +4, in Las Vegas’ 5-0 win at San Francisco on Wednesday and added a pair of assists in a 4-1 win at Bakersfield on Friday and in a 4-3 overtime win at Ontario on Saturday.
A native of Outlook, Saskatchewan, Sarauer leads the Wranglers with 39 points (16g-23a) in 47 games.
Sarauer has tallied 215 points (88g-127a) in 227 career regular-season games with Johnstown, Reading and Las Vegas and has added 13 points (6g-7a) in 24 Kelly Cup Playoff games. He has also recorded two points (1g-1a) in 20 career American Hockey League games with Lake Erie, Norfolk, Rockford and Hershey.
On behalf of Andrew Sarauer, a case of pucks will be donated to a Las Vegas youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
