BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced that the team is auctioning more than 80 hockey-related items online with all proceeds benefiting the “Rebuilding and Restoration Fund” to help the ECHL team return to the ice in October for its 10th Anniversary Season.
Biloxi suffered a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina and the team’s home arena, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, suffered extensive flood damage including the team offices and locker rooms as well as the ice-making equipment and two Zambonis.
Many teams in the National Hockey League offered their support and donated items for the auction. Among the auction items is a Sea Wolves promotional hockey stick that survived Hurricane Katrina which has been signed by Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames, and a Washington Capitals promotional hockey stick that has been signed by NHL Rookie of the Year candidate Alexander Ovechkin.
