Sharks Extend Offer To Schaefer

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks announced that the team has issued a qualifying offer to former Fresno goaltender Nolan Schaefer.

Selected in the fifth round (166th overall) by San Jose in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Schaefer was 17-23-1 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.73 and a save percentage of .907 in 43 games with Cleveland of the American Hockey League in 2004-05.

In his first professional season in 2003-04, the 6-2 and 195-pound Schaefer was 5-5-0 with one shutout, a goals-against average of 3.12 and a save percentage of .910 in 12 games with Fresno and 14-9-3 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.34 and a save percentage of .925 in 27 games with Cleveland of the American Hockey League.
