ANCHORAGE, Alaska – As the Alaska Aces’ poster boy of sorts — he’s pictured on the magnetic team schedule most people slap on their refrigerator — it’s fitting that defenseman Matt Shasby‘s season has mirrored that of his hockey club:
Strong start, followed by a painful, plodding stretch during the dark days of winter, buoyed by a spring resurgence.
Shasby, the fifth-year pro in his third season with the Aces, got off to a beautiful beginning, racking up 11 points and a plus-9 rating in the first 11 games.
