Springfield Signs Bernier

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed forward Marc-Andre Bernier, who has played in the ECHL each of his first three professional seasons.

The Stockton Thunder are the ECHL affiliate of the Falcons of the AHL and the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the second round (60th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 23 year old had 48 points (21g-27a) and 32 penalty minutes in 59 regular season games and six goals and six penalty minutes in 11 Kelly Cup Playoff games for Victoria in 2007-08.

Bernier has 104 points (45g-59a) and 98 penalty minutes in 143 regular season games and eight points (1g-7a) and 14 penalty minutes in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Victoria and Columbia.

He has also played in the AHL where he has two points (1g-1a) and 23 penalty minutes in 39 games with Manitoba.
