Steelheads add pair of rookies

 


Boise, Idaho – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with forward Kyle Gibbons and defenseman Colin Shea.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Gibbons, 23, led Canisius College in scoring three times during his four seasons and finished his career ranked fourth all-time in scoring at the school with 130 points (57g-73a). He made his professional debut last spring, appearing in 10 games for the Toledo Walleye, where he had three assists.

The 23-year-old Shea tied for top honors in scoring with 16 points (1g-15a) among University of Massachusetts-Amherst defensemen as a senior and finished his career with 39 assists in 130 games from the blue line. He also led the team in blocked shots (66) in his final season with the Minutemen and was a three-time member of the Hockey East All-Academic team.
