Stingrays add rookie defenseman Areshenko


North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League, announced today that the team has signed defenseman Jake Areshenko.

Areshenko, 24, completed his senior season at Bemidji State University recording four assists in 36 games. In 144 games over four seasons with the Beavers, the Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, native totaled four goals and 20 assists for 24 points and was named to the CHA All-Rookie Team in 2009-10 and WCHA All-Academic Team from 2010-13.

Before joining the NCAA ranks, Areshenko played four total seasons of junior hockey with the Fargo Force of the USHL and Powell River Kings and Burnaby Express of the BCHL.
