Stingrays advance to Confernce Finals with double OT win

Joe Devin scored with 4:26 remaining in the second overtime on Wednesday to give the South Carolina Stingrays a 3-2 win over Adirondack in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Stingrays advance to meet Wheeling in the Eastern Conference Finals, and will host Game 1 of the series on Friday.

The teams traded goals just 26 seconds apart early in the first period with the Thunder’s Ben Johnson opening the scoring at 4:43 and South Carolina’s David Pacan answering at 5:19.

Mitchell Heard gave Adirondack a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal 19:14 into the second period but the Stingrays’ Bobby Shea notched the equalizer at 9:51 of the third period.

The Stingrays return to defend their Eastern Conference which they earned with a seven-game series win over Toledo last season. Devin scored the game-winning goal in triple overtime of Game 7 in that series.
