Stingrays agree to terms with Collins


North Charleston, S.C. – The
South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Anthony Collins.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Collins, 23, enters his second professional campaign after appearing in 35 games with the Mississippi Surge of the Southern Professional Hockey League last season scoring two goals and four assists for six points and adding 130 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, the native of Surry, British Columbia skated four seasons of junior hockey from 2006-10 with eight teams totaling 121 points (53g-68a) and 465 penalty minutes.

Collins briefly appeared in the college ranks with Thompson Rivers University in Canada in 2010-11 before departing overseas to play with Gnesta IK of Division 1 in Sweden.
