PRINCETON, N.J. – South Carolina right wing Ed Courtenay is the CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for February.
Courtenay scored 22 points (8g-14a) as the Stingrays went 6-5-4 in February.
Now in his 16th full professional season and his third with South Carolina, Courtenay had seven multiple-point games in February, including three points (2g-1a) and the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win against Greenville on February 5 and six points (2g-4a) in a 6-0 win at Pee Dee on February 25. The Verdun, Quebec native had three consecutive games where he scored multiple points – February 4 against Gwinnett (0g-2a), February 5 against Greenville (2g-1a), and February 8 at Pee Dee (1g-1a). The 6-4 and 220-pounder had a plus-minus rating of +11 for the month, finishing even or better in 13 of 15 games and scoring at least one point in 10 of 15 games.
Courtenay ranks third on the Stingrays with 43 points (16g-27a) and leads the team in plus-minus rating (+15). He had a league season-high 12-game home scoring streak, during which he scored 19 points (7g-12a) from November 11 to February 18.
