Stingrays Name Carbery Assistant Coach

North Charleston, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that former Stingrays forward Spencer Carbery has been named the team’s assistant coach. Carbery, 28, will join former player and current Stingrays Head Coach Cail MacLean behind the bench for the 2010-11 season.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Carbery, who played for the Stingrays from 2008-2010, was a member of the 2009 Kelly Cup Championship team and received the first-ever Jerry Zucker Community Service Award in March 2009. While with the Stingrays, the Victoria, BC native scored 22 goals and 26 assists for 48 points in 94 games. Before arriving in North Charleston, Carbery skated for the Bakersfield Condors, Fresno Falcons and Stockton Thunder of the ECHL and the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL.
