Stingrays' O'Brien is AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performer of the Month
O’Brien was even or better in all 13 games during the month, and was a +2 on four occasions, including in back-to-back games on Jan. 16 at Reading and on Jan. 20 against Greenville when he scored a goal and added two assists in both games.
The 29-year-old ranks second on the Stingrays with an overall plus-minus of +14, and leads the team with 20 goals, 34 points and six power-play goals.
A native of Nicolet, Quebec, O’Brien has 201 points (66g-135a) in 251 career regular-season games with South Carolina and 25 points (8g-17a) in 45 career Kelly Cup Playoff games. He was part of the Stingrays’ third Kelly Cup championship team in 2009 when he scored 19 points (6g-13a) in 23 postseason contests. He also has skated in seven career AHL games with Portland and Iowa, tallying one assist.
In recognition of his accomplishment, AMI Graphics will present Pierre-Luc O’Brien with a personalized Plus Performer of the Month Banner during an on-ice ceremony at an upcoming Stingrays’ home game.
